| 4:08 pm | Tonight! ****Don't forget, tonight sees the re-opening of The Calling**** Different venue - The Q Club (corner of Station Road and Hills Road) Same time - 9-2pm. V for Vendetta theme - dress-up and masks optional We have excellent DJs lined up, and flowers - red and white. We'll be handing these out to people until they run out - so get there quick! If you are on the "maybe" pile - change your mind to definitely attending! This looks to be a spectacular night, and who can go without a white rose?! Spread the word!! |

(Insert hysterically flashing lights of attention-seeking glory) This is most evidently a copy and paste specifically aimed at the few who actually read the journal - ie L,T,F,and the rest. Please do feel free to let me know either way... I'm realising that some of you may not actually be all facebook-coherent.. so apologies for the late notice but...! (And yes, you may get this to various accounts, but I want to make sure I reach you!) I'm having birthday celebrations tomorrow (Sat 17th) to hail in my turning 27 last Sunday. From 6 - 8 we will be bowling at the Leisure Centres (Near The Junction on the corner of Hills Road and Cherry Hinton Road) After that we will meander our way to the Castle pub (on Castle Hill - yes the other side of town but taxis shared through everyone will be cheap also I have some somewhat "less mobile" friends who might appreciate it being there) Please do let me know, it would be lovely to see you there. Forward on to anyone I'm terrible enough to have missed (am writing this in a hurry) Louise xx |

| 11:45 am | Proposition 8According to the office of the California Secretary of State, Prop 8 has not yet been called. They are still counting ballots... and we will not know the results until December 13th. All media has announced a victory for Yes on 8. THIS IS WRONG. Based on turnout estimates reported yesterday, we expect that there are more than 3 million and possibly as many as 4 million absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted. Roughly 500,000 votes separate yes from no on Prop 8 – out of 10 million votes tallied. Also: Today’s California Constitutional law discovery: Any amendment to the constitution, before being submitted to a vote, is required to be reviewed by the legislature. Guess what wasn’t? The ACLU has filed an initial writ petition this morning to block proposition 8 from altering the Constitution. http://www.aclu.org/lgbt/relationsh "The California Constitution itself sets out two ways to alter the document that sets the most basic rules about how state government works. Through the initiative process, voters can make relatively small changes to the constitution. But any measure that would change the underlying principles of the constitution must first be approved by the legislature before being submitted to the voters. That didn't happen with Proposition 8, and that's why it's invalid." It's not over yet. |

| 7:10 pm | Grrrr. I need more help. How does one turn on the "comment replies - to - be - emailed - to - you" feature? I've looked in the FAQ and its given me some waffle about finding a "check message boards" thingy in the edit info page, but hey, i cant find it. Anywhere. And combining that with the fact that I'm pissy, feeling very discoordinated, and am just generally wishing it was sunday again, i just want it fixed. Before i break a second mouse in despair at failure. |
